Read any books published by Dr. Walter Williams Jr. or Dr. Thomas Sowell these are two Constitutional scholars and economists. They understand the concept of free people and free choices. If you read one book you will read them all. Both have web sites and publish opinion columns. Check them out and the little gray cells will be stimulated.

My favorite reading list:

Anything by Bastiat

The Noblest Triumph, Property and Prosperity Through the Ages by Tom Bethell

This amazing book will take you back in history and teach you that only thru property rights can liberty and prosperity be secure.

Freedom in Chains, The Rise of the State and the Demise of the Citizen by James Bovard

A classic in what has gone wrong with America and how our founding principles have been erased with the rise of state power.

Leave Us Alone, Getting Government's Hands Off Our Money, Our Guns, Our Lives by Grover Norquist (Americans for Tax Reform)

Americans for Tax Reform puts out its annual tax freedom day and a lot of folks should be shocked to learn that they work, on average, until mid-July every year just to pay all their taxes, federal, state and local. Government plunder is impoverishing its citizens. Leave us Alone is a must read for fiscal conservatives.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is my dream woman!!!

I've recently been reading a lot about women in Islam. What I have learned is deeply disturbing and it's VERY IMPORTANT that people actually educate themselves as to what's going on.

"Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

"Princess: Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia" by Jean Sasson

"Burned Alive: A Survivor of an "Honor Killing" Speaks Out" by Soud

I especially recommend Infidel, it has direct quotes from the Koran. Women all over the middle east are being beaten, raped, and murdered without the blink of an eye. Actually to the celebration of their family for returning their honor.

I just finished reading "Mind Siege" by Tim Lahaye and it is a MUST read for anyone who opposes the liberal, amoral athiestic limited view on American freedom and liberty. It is an eye opener on how the view of atheism is used as one of the pillars of liberal thought in their attempt to destabalize normal society and bring about their own version of liberal utopia.

Two of my suggestions are...
Cracking the Code: The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America. Learn how to keep your property in your hands instead of the government.
and
The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve. A very good book on fiat currency and the many problems that occur because of it.

I am glad so many people have books to suggest.

BUT WE CAN'T READ THEM ALL.

Please give some insight, high lights, opinions of the text. The rest of us don't have ESP.
How do we even know U yourself have read them?

Atlas Shrugged is a long novel, but reads well, and is an excellent depiction of how socialism destroys a society.

Starship Troopers and Farnham's Freehold are books of a similar time period (mid 20th century) by Robert Heinlein, these books tend more towards a social conservative perspective, particuarly Starship Troopers which advocates mandatory service in the military as a requirement of citizenship. Like Atlas Shrugged, they blend a fictional futuristic story with ideology in a way which seems to be a lost art.

For modern authors, anything by Pat Buchanan or Ann Coulter. These two are by far the most articulate and best educated of contemporary conservative authors, and provide the best researched and written works on the right.

Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul provides a well summarized argument for small government, and with the current financial crisis his informative essay on the federal reserve system is helpful.

The Gladiator by Harry Turtledove is a fictional novel of an alternate universe in which the USSR wins the Cold War It's an enjoyable fictional story, shorter and lighter than the works if Ayn Rand, and gives a good defense of the free market economy.

Ron Paul - The Revolution: A Manifesto

EXCELLENT! A must read for all CONSERVATIVES.

"I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism."

Time to resurrect some intelligence, wow it's been almost six months. Almost forgot about this discussion and it got more post than I remember.

As much as I resent the FR, I have chosen to expand my understanding of the monetary system and read The Ascent of Money N. Ferguson. Started w/ the intro today and a lot of his statements show facts I find hard to deny. It looks to be a very informative read. Would love to have some fellow readers to chat w/. Copyright 08', it was released just after the finance crisis broke last year.

Also put in for Fool's Gold J. Tett, She follows many of the banking instruments and banks that put us into the afore mentioned crisis. Should be here in a week or two.
