We were surprised when John McCain picked
Sarah Palin to be his Vice Presidential running mate. For the first few days the media didn't say much about her because they didn't have the extensive history of political and governmental material that they had on the other presidential candidates. We thought at the time that John McCain would have selected one of them because of their more conservative credentials to "balance the ticket."
The first interview with a network news anchor was with CBS's Katie Courac and Sarah Palin tried as best she could to answer the questions but "beginners luck" was not with her and from then-on the press tried to embarrass her every chance they got.
Considering that she has been Governor of Arizona one would think that this would indicate she had a certain amount of political intelligence and ability as she had managed several political campaigns to gain the attention of Republican Party officials in Washington.
