should rebranding..as in business for the republican party mean out with the old and in with the new?

I was curious about what people thought about rebranding of the party.

I am also curious if people would support or subscribe to replacing all the post retirement representatives and senators with new blood so that can be done.

I was for example going right to the top thinking John Mccain has done all he can now do in politics...and noticed he has this guys Chris Simcox of the minutemen running against him in the primary with a much stronger activist resume and support in AZ...should it be time for McCain to pass the torch and enjoy a break for the sake of the simcox's and the palin's of the future party?

I would agree except that McCain won by being a moderate in a moderate state;. It is far to easy to attack and demonize Simcox whereas for better or worse McCain's resume makes it impossible to do so. Moreso as it stands right now the GOP should be fighting to hold and get every seat they can, not working to unseat incumbents they do not like.

I am not a huge fan of McCain or the moderates in the party but as of right now they and the conservative majority of the party are the only thing standing between Obama and his destructionist agenda. We should help all incumbents win their seats and help the new blood in open seats rather then boody ourseleves in a primary.

For the Republican party, the situation reminds me of "New" Coke. In 2000, GWB rebranded the party in what he called "compassionate conservatism." (I hold that Reagan was more compassionate, as was the congress elected in 1994) The effect was to spend more tax money & grow government - something Republicans didn't want. For that, we got 2006 & 2008, & Obama. Seen as Democrat "lite," voters chose the competitor. Coca-Cola did the same with "New" Coke - why drink the Pepsi wannabe when Pepsi was available? Coca-Cola took a huge hit, but came back roaring with "Coca-Cola Classic." They went back to what their customers wanted &, importantly, what the "swing" cola drinkers wanted when they bought a Coke. This is what the Republican party needs to do - go back to what works, which is "classic" conservative Republican values & principles. It works, first & foremost. It pleases the grassroots "customers" & draws in the swing voters.

I do agree with Gabe in that we should focus on replacing Democrats.

I don't know enough about Simcox quite honestly. His big issue is illegal "immigration," with which I agree on his stance. I'm not familiar with his stances on other issues; he may make a great senator. McCain, being the Republican face of Amnesty for illegals, is unlikely to step aside for him. Sometimes it's difficult to get the old horse out of the pasture. Elections aren't sure things, however I'd prefer to keep seats in Republican hands over having a Democrat sneak in because of infighting. It's a tricky thing; I don't mind competitive primaries & there are some Republicans (the 8 who voted for cap & trade, giving the margin of victory in the house) who deserve to be primaried out of office.

Here is the key for the GOP in 2010. No matter how the Blue Dogs vote having a D next to their name, same as Obama in 2010 if and when the economy does not recover will hugely benefit the GOP, especially in the South and West. My whole pt is that we have quite a few more jucier targets then wasting time and money targeting incumbent moderates in the party.

I will have to said yes to this idea but McCain is not at the top of the list to get rid of in my view seeing there no one good to replace him. Chris Simcox is too much of a one issue guy he would be better off running for congress and not challaging McCain. If anyone need to go is the one that top my list and that is the world biggest jack ass Ron Paul

In the party, yes but in terms of overall and weakest link in the Dem leadership is Harry Reid. He can raise as much money as he wants but voters will judge him on his performance. He has to go. We have some good candidates coming out of the woodwork in Nevada, we need to support them.

Reid can be defeated, good post. That would be a great message to put someone good in his place.

worst part is another zaney like Paul will come along, Nadar, Perot and other fellers I cant think of off hand. Any time a person has a Cultist following like Paul another person can easily take his place, some people need a worship symbol and the zanier they are the more goofy folks will follow. Come up with some odd ball stance like Clinton was Really behindthe Rialto earthquake and there were really small underground nuetron bombs placed and you will have groupies, add to it some institution that can never be touched like the United Nations to be investigated and you will have a million worshipers. Not a bad idea though, make them all dress alike and wear my t shirts hummmm-------------how did Pauls quote go "Life . Liberty and the ability to make money off the people"

Oh but that is the quote of most self servinng politicians. To be fair RP is a domestic conservative libertarian but his FP and stance on race relations and anti-zionism make him stand out. If RP goes so much the better but right now even I would say the GOP wld be better off saving the resources they would spend to unseat him to unseat another Democrat in the South.

I think we will not get a shake, why would obama give Americans a chance to repair what he has all ready destroyed now.It is now OK to intimidate people at the polling sites with weapons, the census will change any district we have a chance in to mush, folks are starting to disapeer now, his private Army is getting more money than our own troops per person, Al Quedia is openly recruiting out of the Hilton Hotels, they are openly training in the US. Obama resigned his Law Bar so those records of coruption are secured, Scotland Yard has identified multiple SSN numbers obama has used and there are more under other names---think this is not a well planned operation?

Tyler- John McCain has a new PAC where he is supporting candidates like Meg Whitman for California Governor. Could this be the "Prince's kiss for Sleeping Beauty," or the political version of the "goodnight kiss" for a newcomers campaign?

Chris Simcox has a campaign that is gathering momentum, Click Underlined Link:
