CNN had this story posted today about the GOP's plans to hold townhall-like meetings where they listen to Americans. Seems like all the top players are involved: Cantor, McConnell, Boehner, Romney, Pence, Jindal, more. Here's the link: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/29/gop-set-to-launch-r...
I have hope for this plan (and also hope they come to the Chicago area!).
The good news Jim is that very few watch the socialist channels. As Fox so aptly points out month after month the ratings of CNN, HLN, ABC, NBC, and MSNBC are all dropping.
yah except his fascination with Fox only helps them. The more the prez bashes and disses them the more curious viewers become an watch Fox making its ratings jump. If Obama wants to hit Fox that is fine because he is only helping our cause.
I think rebranding means connecting the same "old" value proposition to the most recent and relevant changes in American culture.
We can't go "out with the old" because that's what makes the Grand Old Party so grand. But we should be highlighting how what's grand and old addresses newly prominent concerns and takes advantages of what's newly advantageous (e.g. web 2.0, openness, connectedness, individuality, etc.)
Today's voters have unprecedented access to knowledge. Talking down to them is the #1 mistake I would cite across politics, esp. Fox News. Those who are motivated to take action are the most likely to respond to being informed.
Our website, OutloudOpinion.com, creates podcasts of political editorials. I think that's a good new media way to inform the public of the issues, and then the GOP's superior stance will shine through.
Republicans understand branding like I understand needlepoint. They're arrogant while being sophomoric and inmature about it, they waste value time and money and the cost of the rest of us. those who are in charge don't belong there.
