What has been the most effective pitch for you to open you wallet and donate money to a political cause?

FIRST - Was it a letter, phone call, radio ad, television ad, email, banner other? What was the medium?

SECOND - What was the pitch?

I have done the auto calls and it is not fun be told Im a recording--the worst part is the auto calls are becomming just like ya said , a pain-----I made about 200 auto calls one day and a person actually argued with me about being a recording , thats how often the recordings are used. We were presented the results of live calls verse robo calls and the diff was tremendous. thats why the section of the general campaign I volunteered in was live but the media still reported we were doing robo calls

None of the above. a record of actually promoting conservative values does it for me. You can email me, call me, beg me, and I can ignore it all. telling me what you plan to do and how you plan to do it. I gave money to McCain/Palin (or is is Palin/McCain) because of Sarah Palin, what she stood for and her record of action. Everything else goes to the NRA.

Thye seem to be the only ones who really act in my interests at this point.

We in NJ remember John & Ken. They are legends in the Gov Florio downfall.

Americans need something to fight for or fight against. The only, I repeat ONLY way to get people involved is to get them to fight. Right now, there are enough really bad policies giong on in Washington to rally the troops. Inform the people. Arm them with information. The outrage is there. Constuctively tap into it. Spending trillions when it isn't needed to pander to lobbyists, nominating tax cheats and a guy who defended porn as a career, executive orders dropping charges against terrorists, the White House taking control of the census so they can redistrict states in their favor, the list goes on and on. These things have happened in less than 20 days in office. Everyone in Washington needs to realize that they work for us. And WE have the power to fire them with our vote. Get someone fired up about these issues to write emails, post blogs, call people whatever it takes to inform the people, give them an alternative that is the direct opposite of what is going on in Washington and give them something to believe in and fight for.

I made a very large donation to attend to the convention in St. Paul. It wasn't spare money lying around -- I just wanted very much to go even though I wasn't on the delegation. If the amount that was asked had been a thousand dollars more I probably would have found it, but I certainly wouldn't have given any extra if the request had been smaller. I'm in no position to kick in extra money for something small like a photo op, but I do believe an event that offers the prospect of a couple of hours (in this case, three days) of being in the good company of like-minded people was a very effective premium. (Several others also took part in the same deal.) The original appeal came to me on Facebook, from the state party committee executive director, and I think it was particularly effective because I was already sitting at my laptop, browsing the internet, and with a few clicks I had responded and accepted the invitation.

I also just gave $20 to Tedesco because it also came to me from a group I belong to, in an appeal I felt was to me personally, and again, I was already sitting inside a browser so it required literally no effort to follow through. I had finished making the donation within three or four minutes of when I was asked.

For me the pitch is irrelevant because I'm not going to give money to a Democrat, for example, even with an apparently sensible platform. I have to already favor a candidate before the pitch arrives, in other words.

Interesting approach, a friend who is running for Councilman in a neighboring town left open the amount for his Kick-off fund raiser. It may be $500 for a table but the individual rate was not fixed. I found this a first.
