The word "catholic" means "universal." Every mass, Catholics feel something powerful as they bow their heads in communion with over 1 billion Catholics worldwide. The Catholic Church has stood resolute for 2,000 years, but certain Catholic politicians have decided they know better.

In some ways I respect Huckabee, but, like McCain, would have a hard time voting for him. If it was Huckabee vs Obama, the decision would be simple - I am Pro-Life - but Huckabee raised govt spending, regulation and taxes DRAMATICALLY as govenor.

@ Joshua Esteban Parker
Why should Huckabee approach things as a Libertatrian and not a Conservative?

I agree Regan was not big government, he was big defense. He is one of our greatest presidents, if not the greastest president ever.

Ah, but we all have the capacity to learn. And reap great rewards. Huck's is about learning the economy and being rewarded with the presidency. Bush's is about enjoying Texas! And Reagan's reward is in Heaven.

I take it from his history

I do think he's a bigger big-government conservative than Bush. I voted for Bush, liked the guy, and would vote for him again if the alternative was worse. Granted, I like Huckabee as a person, I watch his show and like it, but not too confident in that he would approach things as a libertarian. I would vote for him if the alternative was worse though, but I hope I don't have to make that choice :S

Was Reagan a big government conservative. When I think of Huckabee I think more of Reagan than I did with McCain. One of my post on Intellectual Redneck today discusses that.

Unfortunately, I'm not too trustful of Huckabee in that I think he may be another "Big Government" conservative *sigh*

Huckabee is a work in progress, as are all human beings of faith. His faith taught him to be a compassionate conservative. But then that got ruined, and he rethought it. Now his faith is telling him that liberal fiscal policies make people become dependent and weak. Intellectual Redneck has found a way to endorse both Huck and Palin. Check it out!

I agree that McCain was very much the wrong candidate - way too moderate (read liberal) for myself. I would love to see Sarah on the ticket because I believe she is a real conservative.

I must admit I am not a fan of Huckabee. On certain policies I agree, but on others I see him as liberal at best.

(Jindal/Palin 2012)!
