To Hell With this. Most "green" stuff is just ways- great or small- to control us. MOST of it is garbage and we need to challenge the unanswered propaganda, not come up with a watered down version.

I like the Conservation = Conservative slogan. Conservation really is crucial to our long term viability. I'm all for using the resources of our great land, but we have to be good stewards and have something to pass on.

Finally !

A place to discuss REAL alternatives, not just bash global warming and huddle together sticking pins in Al Gore !!
If we can get this message together, it will be unbeatable.
One of the things that really bothered me when I got involved in the election this year, was the lack of a green message. I've always been "green" but conservative and it was troubling that there was no answer to those who said that Bush, etc. were out to trash the environment. If there are CLEAR programs that can be held up as examples of conservative practice then we can use them for posters, PR, etc.

Oh I forgot to say thank you for creating a place to discuss the ideas about green.

Thank you Boo, I am very proud of my son, he was always a shy quiet child with lots of energy. Seeing him stand up for what he believes in strongly to take care of his family and the land that we all live in, really makes me proud.
When he voted this year he posted on his myspace and facebook page Envisage is voting for the safety of babies! The name of his company is Envisage Green, of course most of his clients have been liberal democrats, he does have a few who are like him conservative.

That's great Priscilla!

That's the essence of conservatism -- educating people and allowing them to make the decision. Inevitably, when people understand the choices, they make the right choice.

My son is has a contracting, building, landscaping company Envisage Green and he is trying to build green, remodel green, landscspe green, you would be surprised how many people like doing things enviromentally friendly. He gives neighbors pamphlets about how bad the chemials on lawns are and suggest going green instead, he isn't rude, but he is serious about our land, children, planet, and animal safety
These are things he lists as important to him.
Activities:Picking up trash around waterways with my family and friends.
Interests:Green Building, Outdoors
Proud conservative mom to a good conservative go green family.

Thanks,

I really like innovative solutions for rural areas. There was an article a year or so ago about some BYU students who went to the Somoan Islands and worked out how to make biodiesel out of coconut milk. Previously, diesel was in short supply and expensive. With a little ingenuity, the islanders were able to use an abundant resource to help with their energy problems.

Another group built some merry-go-rounds with generators and took them to Africa to be used to power lights for the schools. I don't know how they were going to maintain the system, but it provided a service using a cheap supply of energy -- kids!

I can only imagine the political noise made if that was tried in the U.S. The headline would be something like "GOP Exploits Child Labor to Cut School Costs"

StrandedWind, do you have any links where I can check it out? I'm a big diesel buff and try to stay on top of it. Diesel is a great way to go to reduce oil consumption. So far, there has not been a viable supply of biodiesel out there. When there is a crash in gas prices, all of the alternative fuel suppliers go bust.
