Welcome to GOP Under 30!

I started this group because I felt like I was alone in college and in my workplace. Slowly I began to realize that there are a large number of people my age who are conservative republicans. However, many of us were at first unaware of each other because we were so used to being in the minority among our peers and our professors.

It is my sincerest hope that a large number of younger republicans find this group and can develop a sense of fellowship with other young republicans. As someone who began putting leaflets in doors with my father at age eight I am proud of my conservative beliefs. I hope others will share their stories as well.

UrbanSwampFox,

Sorry that I've been such an absentee mod for a while, real life often rears it's ugly head. I understand entirely what you mean about being in a very liberal workplace. I actually find myself constantly surprised by how many fellow conservatives are also "in hiding" at work.

As a young conservative Republican, I was alone in college and given how liberal my workplace is (especially with the labor union's strong influence).

At least I can see here that I'm not alone.

Sure Nick,
The most vital aspect I find missing is transparency ,the more transparent you are,the more people will trust you.Something to improve the same must be done. Then I feel that a common platform for candidate's websites must exist for all Republicans,I mean all of them spend pretty much upon websites etc during the campaign, what if a WordPress type sophisticated platform with easy to use dashboard comes into existence. This will not only show unity/similarity among all Republican candidates, but will also save lots of $.I mean lots can be thought upon the same, once we start brainstorming on things like this and more .. Thanks for your support Nick,Merry Christmas :)

Rajan,

My pleasure to create the group. I hope that you share some of your ideas with us because I think we can really get a lot out of this group if we are all active and involved. If you need any support from me please let me know.

N,you are right Bobby Jindal's website is good. But you know what,we need to think beyond conventional style/format/components of websites campaigners/candidates use now.I have so much going in my head, hope to implement the same sometime, hopefully by 2010 ! Thanks for creating a much needed group :)

I was looking around for "good" websites and I found Bobby Jindal's to be rather nice. It is easy to navigate, it shows you have to get involved, it includes links to facebook, youtube, and myspace. It has an easy sign up form and lets you tap into txt message updates.

Jindal may be a little over 30 himself but I think he is a great example of younger thinking in terms of how to set up a campaign. I only hope that he continues to have the great success he's felt already.

I think that the GOP has made some decent inroads with the evangelical youth movement to some degree, but they don't do as good a job appealing to the more secular youth. I really should try sitting some of my friends down, because I often find that when I talk to them about an issue in politics they instantly identify with the democratic agenda but can't articulate a solid argument for their decision.

I think one of the ways we might be able to change minds is through personal discussions and debates with our friends and neighbors. You don't even really have to argue for your view. I think we merely have to question their blind beliefs and ask them to consider alternatives. Doing this consistently may awaken more minds.
