California was a much better place to live in the '50's. The majority of our problems are caused by exponential population growth, which will continue until the whole social and economic structure of the State will collapse. This excess growth is caused by our own finacial and economic systems, which recquire constant growth, without which, the systems collapse..(Carrol Quigley, Tragedy and Hope) 1966 The only way a future collapse can be prevented is to change the financial and economic structures to a balanced and sustainable system. This cannot occur because the vested economic and social entities now in "control" will not allow this necessary and vital change. So, we will continue down the path of national suicide. In a hundred years, there may still be a California, but it will be a world that is patterned after the economic ideas of Thomas Malthus. I don't believe any politicians will be able to change this unfortunate scenario.
