What are the Basics

Government is best when it is limited.
The free enterprise system and entrepreneurship are the cornerstones of America's economic strength.
Taxes are a necessary evil and should be reduced.
Our national security protects our economic and political freedoms.
A strong national defense is the best way to avoid war and deter aggression.
The American civilization finds its foundation in strong moral and family values.

I apologize for being gone so long and not posting. I've been really busy travelling, talking and strategizing. I'm back at it though and I just want you to know I'm back and my newest blog on my policy stances is up and available for your reading, critique, comment or anything else you may want to do with it. This one is my general stance on taxes. I found it appropriate since the tax day is coming soon. Enjoy and I hope to hear from you.

A Rebuild the Party PARTY

My Conservative Friends,

I’m writing to update you on a few recent developments. As you know, the economic and political situation in our state and country is just plain tough. The news media and liberal politicians are pitching a lot of “gloom and doom”. I even read an article that said Republicans have been responsible for masking the “fact” that the U.S. has been in an economic recession since the late 1970’s. All of this rhetoric is driven by an overriding desire by liberals to convince hard-working Americans to abandon their dreams of financial independence in exchange for the empty promise of government support.

We will not be so deluded and we will not give up on our dreams, ideals and principles. And we will not allow the liberal agenda to bring us down into mass depression.

We need a party. A “Rebuild the Party” Party.

We have a lot to celebrate. Rebuild the Party has already been a great success in bringing together conservatives across the state through groups like Ohio Rebuild the Party, Central Ohio Rebuild the Party, Ohio Getting Back to Basics, Conservative Bloggers Ready to Rebuild, and on and on.

Some well-established Republican Party affiliates are still going strong. The Cap City Young Republicans just held elections. I was honored to be elected President, and most of our executive committee members are active on Rebuild the Party.

Furthermore, other organizations are springing up around Ohio. One such organization is the Grandview Area Republican Club where Ohio Republican Party Chairman, Kevin DeWine spoke last night.

There’s an excitement in the air about our chances to take back Ohio in 2010. So we really do have reason to celebrate. Let’s do it!

I’d love to put together a Meetup in late February. I’d love to hear your comments on how to do this. More to come…

Conservatively yours,

Dan Barham

If anyone is interested, Brian Thomas at 55KRC in Cincinnati has a great morning show. He is on the air from 5am to 9am. He covers a wide variety of topics including his take on local and national issues and the insanity of it all. I listen on my way in to work and stream it at my desk. If you call yourself a Republican, conservative, or a libertarian, you should like his show.

Here is our chance to get a real conservative in there! I have been appalled at what has happened to the Republican party in Ohio. I am ready to clean house and this will be a good start.

We need to identify strong leaders who can try for George Voinovch's seat in the Senate. Mike DeWine, Rob Portman, John Kasich, Mary Taylor, Kevin DeWine and John Husted are several who come to mind.

A New Year Blessing

May the road you walk be a smooth one, May your troubles be few – if any,
May the days and years that lie ahead Be healthy, happy, and many, May you have friends in abundance, May the sun shine bright around you, May the world be a wonderful place to live, And may God’s love always surround you. Hope you have a joyful new year and many happy years ahead!

i am starting my "testing the waters campaign" for the 1st congressional seat of Ohio early this upcoming year. I've got to know a lot of people, and made a lot of connections. I'm upset that the 1st district of Ohio had one of the few congressman(house or senate) that voted agains the evil "bailout" plan. Yet Rep Chabot lost to a person whose served 2 terms in the state house, who did not vote or wasn't present for a number of important bills, even skipped out on a vote on an important "home foreclosure" bill, which I found funny because "People Losing their homes is one of my greatest concerns" according to his 06 campaign. I believe we can pull this off. I honestly believe that the representative elect won solely on the coattails of the President Elect and ACORN efforts. His numbers where awful similar to Obama's,with one exception. 1st district covers about 1/3 of Butler County and about 2/3 of Hamilton County. His Hamilton County Numbers (percentage wise) almost matches Obama's perfectly. Butler COunty numbers, he faired a lot worse percentage wise in this district compared to Obama, who didn't even come close to winning Butler County. It can be done, the district just needs someone who can come in, that is not the same old political smooth talker that has done nothing with their lives but work for the next election. We need people in leadership positions that knows what its like to struggle, what its like to have the tax witholdings put your paycheck at a level where you don't know if you can make bills or not. What its like to watch their so called Representatives pass bill after bill that blows through money that the taxpayers worked hard to earn.
Check out my page on rebuild the party, and what watch for future blogs. Tell everyone you know in this area, the time has come for the common folk to take back what is rightly theirs, THIS COUNTRY!
