Obama to Unveil an Ambitious Budget Plan
By Lori Montgomery and Ceci Connolly

President Obama is putting the finishing touches on an ambitious first budget that seeks to cut the federal deficit in half over the next four years, primarily by raising taxes on business and the wealthy and by slashing spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, administration officials said.
In addition to tackling a deficit swollen by the $787 billion stimulus package and other efforts to ease the nation's economic crisis, the budget blueprint will press aggressively for progress on the domestic agenda Obama outlined during the presidential campaign. This would include key changes to environmental policies and a major expansion of health coverage that Obama hopes to enact later this year.
A summary of Obama's budget request for the fiscal year that begins in October will be delivered to Congress on Thursday, with the complete, multi-hundred-page document to follow in April. But Obama plans to unveil his goals for scaling back record deficits and rebuilding the nation's costly and inefficient health care system Monday, when he addresses more than 100 lawmakers and budget experts at a White House summit on restoring "fiscal responsibility" to Washington

Obama will bring this economy to ruin if he stays on his course.

A Rebuild the Party PARTY:

My Conservative Friends,

I’m writing to update you on a few recent developments. As you know, the economic and political situation in our state and country is just plain tough. The news media and liberal politicians are pitching a lot of “gloom and doom”. I even read an article that said Republicans have been responsible for masking the “fact” that the U.S. has been in an economic recession since the late 1970’s. All of this rhetoric is driven by an overriding desire by liberals to convince hard-working Americans to abandon their dreams of financial independence in exchange for the empty promise of government support.

We will not be so deluded and we will not give up on our dreams, ideals and principles. And we will not allow the liberal agenda to bring us down into mass depression.

We need a party. A “Rebuild the Party” Party.

We have a lot to celebrate. Rebuild the Party has already been a great success in bringing together conservatives across the state through groups like Ohio Rebuild the Party, Central Ohio Rebuild the Party, Ohio Getting Back to Basics, Conservative Bloggers Ready to Rebuild, and on and on.

Some well-established Republican Party affiliates are still going strong. The Cap City Young Republicans just held elections. I was honored to be elected President, and most of our executive committee members are active on Rebuild the Party.

Furthermore, other organizations are springing up around Ohio. One such organization is the Grandview Area Republican Club where Ohio Republican Party Chairman, Kevin DeWine spoke last night.

There’s an excitement in the air about our chances to take back Ohio in 2010. So we really do have reason to celebrate. Let’s do it!

I’d love to put together a Meetup in late February. I’d love to hear your comments on how to do this. More to come…

Conservatively yours,

Dan Barham

If anyone is interested, Brian Thomas at 55KRC in Cincinnati has a great morning show. He is on the air from 5am to 9am. He covers a wide variety of topics including his take on local and national issues and the insanity of it all. I listen on my way in to work and stream it at my desk. If you call yourself a Republican, conservative, or a libertarian, you should like his show.

Bernie,

Glad to have you on board! I really don't know how many unregistered voters there are in rural areas of Ohio, but I would hope and assume that local Republicans are making every effort to get folks registered. Our beloved SOS, Jennifer Brunner had more to do with the voting issues that plagued the state this election year. She allowed invalidated ballots to be counted!

Ok folks I'm in Cincinnati -- not really "central' I know -- but I just want to stay in touch with all Ohio progress. I already posted this on the Rebuild Ohio page so my pardons for duplications but the group membership is not completely the same -- here again is my opening salvo:

Fellow Ohioans -- I am interested in all aspects of the many factted effort(s) needed to rebuild the conservative traditional American values coalition -- the whole forest.

But I also have a penchant for the bigger trees. So I would like to get involved in finding out just what percentage of our potential voter base is unregistered in Ohio.

The dems just go to big metro areas and sign up every thing that moves or that looks like it might have moved at some. It is much harder for us.

BUT do we really KNOW what percentage of rural and small town Ohioans are actually registered and voting? I think we assume that most do -- but do they?

Statistical analysis could help us determine if this idea has legs or not.

We generally would not need a million new votes -- rather a hundred thousand could make a difference in a campaign where we have a viable candidate. McCain is a bad example -- he was too conflicted, unfocused and his campaign was in such disarray that it is hard to tell what might have happened in 2008 in this state with a more plausible candidate.

So we would have need more new votes -- but in most cases we would not lose so much of our base to the dems -- thus a small positive increment might pay off for us.
