Just wanted to check in. My husband and I are planning on being there at Annapolis in April 15th. It is time we turn this Blue State red. I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Hello ladies and gentlemen. First let me start by pointing out that I am a Conservative by nature, my voter card may say Independent, yet your values have no Party affiliation attached to them. Though I seem to be of only a select few African Americans who attest to such Conservative values and principles, I assure you that there are many more such as myself that find themselves on the RIGHT of many issues facing OUR Country!

That being said, having being given the unique opportunity to write for the Examiner.com, as the Baltimore Independent Examiner, and being the Host of Maryland's leading, and possibly only, Political TV show, the Reporters' Roundtable, I feel it my duty to serve the Citizens of Maryland, in providing them the REAL side of issues facing this Great State. While I continue to keep up front the value of such media venues, as outlets of great importance and value, I realize that I, nor any one else, can go it alone. Therefore it is my distinct pleasure to reach out to like-minded individuals, such as yourself, to invite you to either 1. express your values through writing to be posted on the Examiner's site (unedited) and/or 2. email me show topics of importance and open yourself and others up to be apart of said show, in order to use this venue as a tool in spreading the word of "Change", in order to REALLY Rebuild the Party!

Though it shall be TOUGH in a Tru-Blu State like Maryland, Governor Ehrlich and others have given us the formula to see that it can be done and shall be done again. Therefore please feel free to forward me information useful to effectively Rebuilding OUR Party of Principles and see how a collective group of dedicated People, can change the landscape of a frustrated and waning State electorate. (Info: hassan@reportersroundtable.com or 443-473-6401)

You may find me on the web at http://www.reportersroundtable.com or at http://www.examiner.com/x-1899-Baltimore-Independent-Examiner, on Facebook or here at RebuildtheParty/HassanGiordano

As one of the only Black Conservatives in the City of Baltimore, it is imperative to create a foundation of principled ideas and discussions, to those who have lost 'Hope' and who are desperately trying to find it, anywhere and with anyone willing to offer such. The reason why Obama now serves as OUR President! Let's do the same, here in OUR Free-State! Thanks for listening!

Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the site, but I maintain a Maryland Based blog at http://hocorising.blogspot.com . Despite the title, it is not exclusive to Howard County issues. I'd appreciate your support and comments.

Thanks,

A Re-Awakened Conservative’s Manifesto

On every unauthoritative exercise of power by the legislature, must the people rise in rebellion or their silence be construed into a surrender of that power to them?
Thomas Jefferson, 1782.

I realize now, perhaps too late, that the answer to President Jefferson’s question above is “yes,” the People must rise or risk surrender of their freedoms. My “silent surrender” ends now.

While the radical leftists expanded their power hold through deceit and obfuscation, I remained silent. While the anti-capitalists vigilantly worked to impose their Marxist, anti-capitalist views on the masses, I kept my thoughts to myself. While the left motivated its base, I ignored my friends trying to get me involved in grass root conservative efforts, thinking I was too busy. I voted, but I did not participate in the political process because neither candidate was palatable.

My silence and ambivalence have cost me dearly, and my children even more. For my “silent surrender,” shame on me.

• My silence has granted to a government employee the power to monitor my medical treatments to make sure they are cost-effective based upon a federal standard involving the number of years the patient is likely to benefit from the treatment. Apparently, seniors like my parents are not as valuable a human as we younger folks.
• My silence has resulted in the imposition of debt on my children in a volume previously unthinkable.
• My silence has allowed the government to confiscate my hard-earned income in a manner that can only be described as a mugging.
• My silence has allowed the theft of my God-given liberties in an unprecedented federal power grab imposed by those elected to purportedly represent “the People.”
• My silence has allowed the ascent of those that use threats and fear to intimidate lawful dissent.
• My silence has resulted in the nascent nationalization of health care, financial and other crucial industries – undermining the free market principles that have made this country and its citizens the most affluent in history.
• My silence has resulted in the imputation of a pulse in the Constitution, deeming it a “living document” and allowing the further erosion of my God-given freedoms.
• My silence has allowed faceless bureaucrats to attack my Constitutional right to protect my family through the use of personal firearms.

I will no longer remain passive and silently surrender to the shackles forged by power-hungry, self-interested politicians and bureaucrats. I will speak and act now, while I can. For those who have taken the powers are working hard to squash the voice of dissent. I pray my re-awakening is not too late.

As Patrick Henry observed in 1775, the battle “is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” I submit it is now imperative for conservatives to unite in vigilance and action. Let us jointly pledge to be silent no longer, to surrender no more, to act in defense our freedoms. Our God-given rights, and those of our children, depend on our courage to act.

Here are some action items I intend to take in my personal journey, and I encourage you to develop your own list:

1. Get talking! For my part, I plan on joining the conversation with fellow conservatives at the Maryland Thursday Meeting sponsored by the Maryland Center-Right Coalition. In my past experience with the Illinois Center Right Coalition, these conversations lead to numerous opportunities for involvement and networking. Many other states have similar groups, so please contact them.

2. Hold officials accountable. I intend to follow the excellent example of the Tennessee House Republicans and encourage the Senate Republican leaders to oust Senators Hatch, Snowe and Collins from the Republican caucus, and absolutely refuse to provide these three sell-outs a dime from party coffers or the assistance of party personnel or technology in their next election. They have put their own political self-interest before the interests of the Country. If they are going to vote in contravention of conservative values, then the party that purports to represent conservative principles should not soil itself any further with their association.

3. Help those who help us. Today, I joined the Heritage Foundation, the Club for Growth and several other conservative groups active in protecting our liberties. Tough economic times can make it difficult to finance membership, but we can all dip into the lunch money fund over the course of a year to cover the donation. In fact, the Club for Growth was free to join! Keep in mind that some employers have matching programs in place for non-profit donations.

4. Develop long-term strategies. I will work with other interested conservatives to promote and defend our philosophy, and to encourage those who practice this philosophy to become active in the movement. I will work with others to draft a renewed Contract with America outlining the precise path a truly conservative majority would lead this Country. This disparity could not be more extreme, and must be developed and marketed in time for the 2010 elections.

5. Network. I will continue to expand my social and political network. In 2008, my congressional district (MD-01) elected its first democrat in decades. Local involvement with conservative candidates is an effective way I can make a difference. Newer technologies like this site also provide a great opportunity to network with like-minded conservatives, though my technical skills will certainly require improvement!

I will continue to develop my thoughts and personal plans, and look forward to working with each of you to break the silence and our shackles!
