I have the feeling that the Republican party is going to continue to spiral down in the future unless so many GOP'ers stop believing that the answer is to move further to the left or center. That,in my opinion,is why so many Republicans lost this year, not because they were too conservative, far from it. Republicans lost this year because they stopped following their core principles and nobody had faith in them that they could lead the country with such wishy-washyness.

Republicans "lost" this year - 2008 - for a number of reasons, and the only way that we are going to "win" in the future is
with a coalition of libertarians and social conservatives who can rally behind a "core value" -- our Constitution.

Reagan was capable of establishing this coalition, and while Ron Paul also had both elements supporting his campaign,
most libertarians and conservatives did not support him for a whole host of reasons.

The answer is neither. It is to move to the right. It is to talk up responsiblity and choice, to emphasize state's rights and small govt. To talk up capitlaism and point out what our govt is doing now to destroy this country. The road back for the GOP is not to go back to what didn't work, but back to its roots and that did work.

Try getting most mainstream Republicans to go back to the GOP's roots,go ahead,I dare ya'. Most could not think for themselves to save their lives and would be better repersented by socialists and fascists, which is why they picked McCain.
