The following is a note I sent to a classmate who graduated with me way back in the mid-20th century.
If you want to stop the Obamascare death plan contact every person you know in every state. Ask them if they are represented in the House of Representatives by a “blue dog” democrat; if they are, request that they contact all their friends request that they contact their congressman/woman and encourage them to vote NO on this death bill (do not use that term when communicating with a “blue dog”.… Continue

Jindal is spineless

This is not, as some complained about a previous comment, being sourced from a blog that was unfavorable to Jindal.

We do not need or want Jindal.

Tax Cheats: Then and Now

Alphonse was a man before his time. Yes, Alphonse Capone, if he were living today, would qualify to be a member of the Bamster's cabinet. He would mix right in with the likes of former Senator Tom (Puff) Daschle, to head HHS, or Hilda Solis nominated to lead the Dept. of Labor, Nancy Killefer, Bamsters White House Chief Performance Operator Nominee (whatever the hell that is), and last but certainly not least… Continue

Intellectual rednecks, eh? Do I qualify?

- NRA Life Member,
- Instead of "No Trespassing" sings, my propery is posted with, NRA range signs: "Caution! Keep Out! Firearms in Use!"
- Farmer,
- I drive a 6,300 lb Dodge Ram 4x4 (complete with Ruger decals),
- I spend more time on my tractors than in my house,
- I spend more time with the cows, goats and pigs than with my wife,
- I've got a 5 year old pair of boots that've never touched pavement,
- There's not a scrap of meat in my freezer that wasn't born and killed on my property.

I buy feed from a couple of fellows I went to school with: they raise and mix it themselves. Although my place is named, "Dry Run Farm," for the seasonal, usually dry creek that marks one border, one of these fellows always writes my receipts to, "Deliverance Farm." I has something to do with the fact that I've got a river running past my front door, and in the summer, I can often be found on the front porch, in bare feet, holding a beer, plinking old bantam eggs set I've set up on the bank (those birds run free, keeping ticks out of the yard, and I'm always finding old nests). I've been known to do it with a Bushmaster AR-15.

I'll let you judge from my posts here if I'm "intellectual" enough.

By the way, I did not want Ron Paul for President but I did send him a good bit of money, because what he had to say was important and I wanted him in the debates. The Republican Party had Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul who were both intelligent thoughtful men who did not like the direction the party had been taking. If they had let them have more of a place in the debates, and treated them more respectfully, they would have had a better shot at winning.

In truth, I have to think the economic meltdown killed the republicans. It was too big to ignore. Democrats and Republicans can share the blame on that, but Republicans were in power and the party in power always goes down in an economic crisis.

Hey sport, I believe in debate. The GOP needs more of it. I am really upset with my party, but it does not make me a Democrat. Just because my wife pisses me off, I am not going to become gay. I am a republican to my core, but not the kind of republican who wants to lie and cover up the mistakes we have made. I want to admit them and move forward. If we never admit them, we will never move forward.

I also tend to get too emotional about things at times. When I do, shoot me down.

What a joy it is to be a Republican! Our GOP is poised to make decisions that will either lead to the "comeback" or .... I'm in this race to WIN and so are YOU!

It doesn't have to be the former... it is time for Conservatives to not be such sissies. Frankly, I'm tired of being "quiet and reserved". I don't expect Conservatives to be loud, gong bangers like the radical left but it certainly is time that we aren't afraid to stand firm on our principles and (as Obama said...) "be in the face" of those who disagree with us. Our arguments win every time. Logic prevails and our side is so basic, that it falls right in line with human instict. Liberals have to fight that instict and pull emotion into their logic. Perfect example:
I was talking to a friend of mine's little girl, and she said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"
She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."
"Wow - what a worthy goal," I told her. "You don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house."
She thought that over for a few seconds 'cause she's only 6. And while her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"
And I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."
Her folks still aren't talking to me

No, indeed you didn't suggest any move to the center. I was merely commenting in general about your posting re: a move to the center and agreeing with it.
At 12:29pm on December 23, 2008, David DuBrucq said…
Move to the center? Nope, that's what got us into trouble in the first place. We need to return to our core conservative values and recognize there is no compromise with moral relativist liberals.

Like spoiled, angry children, liberals rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave. They, in effect, become subjects, slowly relinquishing the rights of citizenship for the nipple of mother government. Liberals are our enmies and the chief enemy of our republic.

hey asp, glad to be your friend here... I totally agree with you about the dems being our "friends." If they aren't on the same side as me, they are not my friends, poltically speaking.
This is the same tactic that John McCain uses, lives by, governs by, and campaigned by, and look where it got him---in the Lost column! I sometimes think he was a plant anyway and never intended to win. Sarah Palin knocked him for a loop, as well as the rest of the political world in our nation. They were not expecting such a SARAH-CUDA!! John McCain can keep his bipartisanship and go down with it on the Congressional Titanic.
