The Republican Party stands for Defending our Nation, Supporting our Heroes, Securing the Peace.

In June of 1896 the Republican Party recorded the following: ... the American people have witnessed the calamitous consequences of full and unrestricted Democratic control of the Government. It has been a record of unparalleled incapacity, dishonor and disaster. ... it has ruthlessly sacrificed indispensable revenue, entailed an unceasing deficit, eked out ordinary current expenses with borrowed money, piled up the public debt. . . forced an adverse balance of trade, kept a perpetual menace hanging over the redemption fund, pawned American credit to alien syndicates, and reversed all the measures and results of successful Republican rule.... It has precipitated panic, blighted industry and trade with prolonged depression, closed factories, reduced work and wages, halted enterprise and crippled American production.... [they] have shown themselves incapable of conducting it [government] without disaster at home and dishonor abroad. . .

Immigration- ...we deman that the immigration laws be thoroughly enforced and so extended as to exclude from entrance to the United States those who can neither read nor write.

I had to wonder as I was reading this if these people were really in the year 1896, sounds so much like today's democrats!

Abortion & Gun Control

This is going to be short but sweet. Had a thought on the 22nd, which was the anniversary of Roe v. Wade...
Have often heard of abortion as being the sacred cow of the democrats, the liberals, and the left. And it is.
But they have so many and it would be hard to line them all up and pick the next one of importance. They
are for so many things that are anti-American and pro-our-enemies ("Club Gitmo for example). Who but a
left-wing-socialist democrat would ever dream of letting out the sworn

Remembering January 1961

My memory was taken back to 1961 by a post I read at a sister website. It had to do with some of the words of President John F. I was a mere kid in junior high at the time, but can remember watching his inauguration on the old black and white TV we had back then. JFK said many memorable things in his speech, but there is one statement he made that is very relevant for this hour in our hContinue

Yes, I attended the "TEA Party", in Salem, Oregon, and was pleasantly surprised to discover over 4,000 in attendance! It was totally dismaying to be told by our Republican legislative delegation that the only segment of the economy which is presently growing is government - every other sector is down. Friday I attended a conference of City and business leaders in Clackamas County, where I asked the following question: "Please help me to understand how state agencies can be asked to cut their budgets by 30% because of a $4.4 billion dollar budget deficit while government is the only segment of the economy which is growing." The cryptic response I received was that the government was cutting "services" rather than staff. I am not the 'brightest candle in the economic sanctuary', but it seems to me that if you cut government services without cutting government staff it means that existing staff is doing less. Is rationality still employed in government, or are we just expected to accept irrationality as being the acceptable status quo?
