Robin, I'm a misanthrope, a farmer who gets off his property less often than his garbage is collected, and I like it that way. "Getting out" isn't for me. You've read my posts. You may be able to guess why I like my goats, pigs and chickens more th…

Robin, I've used the same analogy, only to meet determined resistance from so-called moderate conservatives whose only interest is the next election cycle. "Republican" and, "Democrat" are, for some of these, not distinctions with a difference, but…

Robin, Americans seem to like clear choices. Their "clear choice" last November (in my opinion) was less for Obama than against Mr. Bush. Now, with body counts from Afghanistan a daily ritual, a former Gitmo detainee leading the killing of US serv…

I wonder if a citizen would have standing to challenge the Fed's immunity from banking regulations, including audits, on 14th Amendment grounds (the 14th Amendment is the "equal protection" amendment, which guarantees that no law may apply to some,…

One more thing... Declarations such as, "We stand for small(er) government," and, "We stand for personal liberty/responsibility," are bumper-sticker politics, at best, or frauds. By the record, the evidence favors the latter. Obama, Pelosi and Ree…

Puff-pieces and the Fourth of July, 1776

"What does the Fourth of July mean to you?" Today's newspapers, print and on-line editions, are teaming with human interest stories that might be a voyeur's peek into fifth-graders' essays on the 4th of July. Fireworks, parades, back-yard barbecues and days spent at the park and on the beach - these are some of the more innocuous offerings of the day. Then there are the deeper comments: "I finally have hope," one woman is quoted as saying in a Washington Post piece, managing - incredibly - to co… Continue

A Two Percent Solution

Sherlock Holmes fans will recognize the title of this blog as belonging to one of AC Doyle's immortal stories of that detective. Holmes, you see, was a cocaine addict, and in period of ennui, he took refuge in the comfort of a "2% solution" of that drug.

Republicans and Democrats, alike, have become addicts of another vice even more pernicious than cocaine use. They have become addicted to spending one person's money for another person's benefit - so addicted, in fact, that they no longer quest… Continue

Breaking a Promise

I promised the RtP site owner that I would no longer participate in Rebuild the Party. The owner had chastised those of us whose conversation was not directly linked to actions intended to strengthen the GOP. GOP identity, it seems, is less important than GOP majorities.

Well, a couple of dozen Republicans voted yesterday that, in addition to a national minimum wage, "the people" may demand a national maximum wage. My former father-in-law and still best friend emigrated to the US from the Sovie… Continue

What's in it for me?

Tom Daschle has backed out of the running for HHS Secretary. Apparently, he was the only man the Obama administration believed could succeed where Hilary had failed. Conservatives are on bended knee, giving thanks to whatever Provident force they believe in that the nation has, at least for the moment, dodged a nuclear bullet.

It should be a good day for Republicans. The Obama administration is not only frustrated in their first choice for HHS Secretary, but embarrassed by one of the Senate's m… Continue

Today's Washington Post: Glee over Republicans' Disarray

Under the title, "For GOP, a Case of Misshapen Identity," the Washington Post's on-line edition absolutely drips with smug condescension toward all things Republican. The theme, of course, is the introspection Party officials and members are agonizing through as they come to terms with a catastrophic loss in the general election. Introspection is good, but in the instant case one can easily fear it will be futile.

The GOP is becoming irrelevant, and I say this as a militant Goldwater Republican… Continue

One last thought, Enoch:
You can't teach a pig to sing, it frustrates you and irritates the pig!

Thank you, Enoch, for all your comments. I sense and admire your deep love and concern for our country. You are so very gifted and articulate. I thoroughly enjoy each and everyone of your comments, they speak to my core values - and I am learning so very much from them. Please forgive me for not responding here, sooner. I was not clear - still not very - how to navigate the blog.

I would love to discuss further with you, your thoughts on how we might have the maximal impact to this party - from our perspectives. For example, clarifying our messages and focus and then get these thoughts ideas out, informing and stimulating thought on other venues.

Again, I am eager to hear from you. Perhaps we may talk at some point or time by phone. Thank you, best regards, Mike

Enoch,

Welcome to RtP.

Do you have a plan or suggestion to help rebuild the Republican party?

I look forward to working with you and all Republicans to return this nation to its conservative Republican background and return those states we lost back to the right color - Red.

Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Iowa all former Red states. How is the time for grassroots Republicans to stand up for the right and fight for the basics the GOP has stood for.

The new Congress and a new President has been sworn in, but the results will be the same old agenda. Nothing new. Nancy, Harry and Barak will be feuding to see who is the boss of the Dem party. Now is the time for the Republican party to come together as the real party for change. Change to Real Conservative politics.

Who will be the voice for the GOP? Newt? Palin? Jendal?

Never give up, Never quit, Never fail, Always reaching, the GOP will be back.

Stephen
South Alabama Republican
