Selecting the next RNC Chairman

Our nation was blessed by the wisdom of three men in the past century. Alfred Sloan was a management genius who built General Motors into a colossus. General George C. Marshall reached past a generation of senior generals to select four younger men to lead our troops against the Nazi’s in World War II, and then developed the plan to rebuild war-torn Europe. Jack Welch became the model of a chief executive and built GE into the most prolific training ground for successful corporate chief executiv… Continue

Reverting to my first impression of Obama

I am going back to my first impression of Obama. During the last few months of the campaign, his lifelong association with and mentoring by people who hated America caused me great concern that he was their Trojan Horse. His mission was to penetrate the inner circles of power, and to open the gates for the people who groomed him. But his selection of his new administration, predominantly second-tier retreads from the Clinton and even the Carter administrations, belie that concern. The fact that… Continue

Jim,

Very well put. My thoughts exactly. I may sound negative but after the last two elections, 06 and 08, there isn't a whole lot of outward optimism. We do need to do the grass root work. We will overcome this. In Sarah Palin's words "it is what it is". It's the hand that was dealt us. Also it is what God had planned for us (you think this country and all it's demonizing is wearing a little thin on Him?).

Anyway, we can all rest assured that we will overcome. With God's will and in due time. Patience.

Hope you are having a Merry Christmas.

Jim, I love your Abe Lincoln idea. Build a new party. The American Conservative Party. The moderates have run our well dry. I believe this time next year they will wonder just who the hell they voted for and what the hell they did. Yeah Palin would be nice. I think with her values though, being that God and family is her reason for existence, she may not be quite as willing to jump in the fray again. Like I said don't get me wrong. I hope I am wrong but I have a hunch.

And along those lines we are going to have to face the mid-stream media if we hope to take this country back. If His Highness enacts the fairness doctrine that will be another wall to climb. But it can be done.

Keep the faith. Merry Christmas!

Stephen,

Thank you for your inquiry about my suggestion to help rebuild the Republican Party. I will post an answer here so that more people can see it.

Let's start by mentioning that we have a national party that has numerous national affiliates (e.g., College Republicans), 50 state parties and thousands of county parties. Many of them are strong, and need little rebuilding. Maybe a little modernization, but that isn't the problem.

The problem is that many of our party organizations have become like they were in 1976 when Reagan ran unsuccessfully against Gerald Ford. The Party Regulars preferred the status of being chiefs of a permanent minority party with no firm principles, to becoming just Indians in a new majority party based upon principle.

Rather than giving up and going away, we continued working to build our political skills and our numbers, and in 1980 we overwhelmed them. We need to do the same in 2012.

Building numbers is essentially a person-to-person type of thing, and you build an organization or a movement one person at a time. That's why we like the name of Friends and Neighbors. Most of them have "tells", that tell us they might be interested in joining our effort. We made contact with everyone we saw who had a McCain/Plain bumper sticker or sign. We notice who flies a flag at their house, and they get a visit from us. If there is a special event like the Glenn Beck "Christmas Sweater" performance, we enjoy the show and then pass out flyers inviting everyone else to join us for a breakfast at the Golden Corral.

This is just for openers. Check our website at www.mcfan.org regularly, especially the "What's New" button that tells what we have changed lately. We are building an organization manual (see "Take Action") that should be a gold mine to organizers everywhere. I also encourage people to check on www.teamsarah.org in the group Palins Garden which is also providing a lot of "how-to" tips on building the new conservative majority.

Hope this helps,

In Government We Don't

Hi, I’m Katie, I am so excited about Sarah Palin, and really just ready to help further the conservative agenda! With what happening in Sarah’s life, we now, more than ever need to focus on positively supporting Sarah and other Republicans! Every day I mark it down on my Sarah Palin Calendar, so that at the end of the year I know I did everything I could possibly do. I just think having a calendar with a cause reminds you ever day to do something proactive!

Jim,

Welcome to RtP.

Do you have a plan or suggestion to help rebuild the Republican party?

I look forward to working with you and all Republicans to return this nation to its conservative Republican background and return those states we lost back to the right color - Red.

Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Iowa all former Red states. How is the time for grassroots Republicans to stand up for the right and fight for the basics the GOP has stood for.

With the election of Joseph Cao in Lousianna and taking a Democrat seat, things are starting to look up for 2010.

Never give up, Never quit, Never fail, Always reaching, the GOP will be back.
