In 2005, Christine Todd Whitman, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under George W. Bush, published her book entitled: “It’s My Party Too: The Battle for the Heart of the GOP and the Future of America.
Among other things, Whitman states, “Moderates have an indispensable role to play — we must bring the Republican Party, and American politics generally, back toward the center. But that won’t happen easily. It is time for Republican moderates to assert forcefully and plainly that this is our Party too, that we not only have a place, but a voice — and not just a voice,
but a vision — a vision that is true to the historic principles of our party and our nation.”
In January 2009, the Republican Party will become a party out of power. Plaintalk from the Texas Hill Country - It's My Party Too! will be focused on the emerging battle for the “heart
of the GOP and the future of America“. It will do so by chronicling breaking news feeds and political commentary from local, state and national news sources.

Thanks for your response. However, I am only a few years younger than you, and i worked for a solid year for Ronald Reagan's Campaign '80. I have also been politically on top of things since. So if you think I'm "lecturing" you by disagreeing with you (and/or your tone) then I haven't a clue how you intend to "reach out" to anyone, much less the die-hard radical left. My original point was that I feel we should not compromise on certain issues (such as abortion, gay marriage, free speech and the right to bear arms). I have no idea what you found insulting by my comment below. Arguing over issues and strategy is what we are here for, as far as i can tell.
In response to your comment about the "far right".....we have gone NOWHERE by trying to "soften" the far lefters and be a weak version of ourselves. Clearly, half the country wants a return to conservative values and principles. Neither extreme of either party is viable, but neither is ignoring the basic nature of this party. The Democratic party has become radical, and a knee-jerk reaction to those who "hate" Bush by them wiping out everything this country has stood for is not the answer. Republicans are only "wandering in the wilderness" by not taking a firm stand for who we are and fighting for our principles.
Do you have a plan or suggestion to help rebuild the Republican party?
I look forward to working with you and all Republicans to return this nation to its conservative Republican background and return those states we lost back to the right color - Red.
Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Iowa all former Red states. How is the time for grassroots Republicans to stand up for the right and fight for the basics the GOP has stood for.
With the election of Joseph Cao in Lousianna and taking a Democrat seat, things are starting to look up for 2010.
Never give up, Never quit, Never fail, Always reaching, the GOP will be back.
Hi, I’m Katie, I’m new to Rebuild the Party, but I am so excited about Sarah Palin, and really just ready to help further the conservative agenda! I have been really active in Team Sarah, and just found this site! I’m looking for ways to get involved. Every day I mark it down on my Sarah Palin Calendar, so that at the end of the year I know I did everything I could possibly do. I just think having a calendar with a cause reminds you ever day to do something proactive!
