About me

People categorize me as: Writer, Producer, Thinker, Strategist, Idea Hamster, Campaigner, Fearless Leader and New Technology Evangelist; I deliver marketing, branding, concepts and strategy for clients who seek to leverage their positions across traditional and interactive media.

My strengths include conceptual development, strategy, branding, creative direction, copy writing, and marketing strategy for consumer and business-to-business marketing initiatives, with a specialization in technology, financial services, health care, and professional services, and anything else that clients throw at me.

Noteworthy agency projects have included work for companies like: Merck, AOL/Time-Warner, Microsoft, Universal Pictures, McDonald's, Hewlett-Packard, Bristol-Myers Squibb, US West, Motorola, Emerson, Novell, ABN-AMRO, Abbott Labs, Pearson Education, GM/Buick/Oldsmobile, RW Baird, Deloitte and more.

Generally speaking, I remain intensely curious and have a real passion for consumer insights, and enjoy thinking holistically about everyday business issues and the possibilities that new technology may someday provide us.

At present, I enjoy researching the latest trends in innovation, challenger branding, influencer marketing, social media, personal and systemic creativity, learning, cognition, lead generation strategies, online collaboration tools and anything else that inspires creativity.

Before this? Promotions Manager/Talent Scout for an Indy music label and management company, and Marketing Manager for an IT consulting firm.

On my free-time, I enjoy biking, photography, gaming, Jazz-fusion, cataloging important up-and-coming artists via MySpace, and electronic illustration.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current projects: Writing for video.

Ideas I'm following: Beyond political and economic concerns, location-based mobile technology, and anything having to do with social media and collaboration tools, trends in creativity and innovation, community-building; government accountability and sunshine initiatives; Hilary Clinton and Barbara Boxer's antics with pursuing ratification of the UN Charter on the Rights of the Child, and other feminist shenanigans.

Why I'm here on RTP? I'm a proponent of pro-family initiatives to protect parental involvement and autonomy at the local, state and federal level, and am looking to do more networking with folks who share in these concerns, hoping to educate more Libertarian and Conservatives on vital issues that impact parental rights; looking for help with building a Web site for an advocacy organization for parents.

Current needs: My blankie when it's cold at night; a good cup of Joe on a cold winter morning; a strong, un-feminized Conservative or Libertarian woman who hasn't drank the Kool-aid; something to assure me that there will be hope for re-taking Congress in 2010 once America wakes up from the impending catastrophe; clients who get it; collaborators on video and Interactive projects; projects in Florida, California, Texas, Costa Rica, or anyplace to get me out of this god-forsaken COLD here in Chicago until Spring. Ideas on better places to live other than Illinois as we implode. Plus, your insights on collaboration tools within social media or ECM and creative leadership.

Does Challenge by RNCC to Steele Create Perception Problems for RNC?

(CHICAGO) -- RNC Chairman Michael Steele is facing a new challenge by members of the Republican National Conservative Caucus (RNCC). A group of committee members that hold to the party platform are urging reform in three areas: How the RNC distributes political funds; how it addresses Democrats' government policy; and a call for Republican federal lawmakers to abandon and condemn budget earmarking.

SAFE Act Supercharges Victimhood and Allegations of Domestic Violence

(CHICAGO) -- Just when we thought we had seen our share of fantastic and colorful ideas for 2009, Representatives Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA) and Ted Poe (R-TX) are hoping you won't mind just one more to add to the list.

Titled the SAFE Act ("Security and Financial Empowerment"), H.R. 739 intends to promote victimhood and allegations of domestic violence by granting lifetime job security to anyone who makes a claim of Domestic Violence, creating powerful incentives for highly conflicted… Continue

Word to the GOP: Your brand is only as good as the promise behind it

Over the past few years, our trust in politicians and political parties, particularly that of the GOP, has sunk just about as low as it can go. This crisis in confidence has been fueled by an unprecedented series of flubs, missteps, broken promises, complacency, and just plain lousy management that has gone blindly and naively into the sunset, following our fearless ex-leader off the cliff and into obscurity. As strange as it may seem given this blind devotion, the number of voices who have spru… Continue

Why the GOP Should Pursue Challenger Branding

Much has been said recently about the fate of the GOP. In particular, new attention that is being given to re-branding the party to assume it's rightful place in American politics. Trouble is, with sizable defeats in 2004 and 2008, the GOP can no longer claim that it is maintaining a leadership role, or is captivating the mind share needed with a majority of constituents. With that being said, the GOP must do some quick thinking in order to determine where it stands on the political food chain.… Continue

Also Michael, I read Michaels 1st 2 chapters of his plan. I must say I did not see anything visionary in it. Steele seems to be gently tiptoeing around the issue of restoring the old line core principles front and center.

If you watch the post, Steele says that we must bring the moderates in to the party. He intimates that we need to adjust the message of the party to fit the template of these moderates. I disagree. We have been heading down that road for some time and it has not worked.

Michael,

Don't know if you saw the Washington Times article... but there is a push being made to force the leadership to return the power to the states. We have lost our way as a grass roots organization. We have become a top down rather than a bottom up party. In an effort to win votes we have lost our way by trying to be all things to all people. The majority of Americans still believe in the conservative priciples. Less Government, Free Speech, Free Markets, Local Control, Individual Liberty... it is my goal to not let up until we have the leadership responding to the people of these principles! The battle has begun.

Great Question. The name comes from my blog, With Bias. I choose the With Bias name, in response to all the Liberal bias I was seeing daily in the Media. It came from many conversations with friends where I would explain "If the Reporters or Anchors would come right out and tell you they have a Liberal Bias, it would be more honest than pretending to deliver a story as an Objective observer like they do Now. So when I started my blog I thought I'd nip the whole fair and balanced arguement in the Bud. I am Biased. I am a Conservative and everything I write reflects those beliefs.
