There are several blogs promoting the Tea Partys and there are several lobbying organisations that are influencing them.

So far, the Republican Party elected officials have benefited from their association with the Tea Partys.

At this time it does appear that they will develop into an independent political movement that could influence the Republican Party, although there was some talk about that at the earliest events, Click Underlined Link:

Dr. Pearlman,

You are more kind to me than I am accustomed to.

Regarding Henry Wisner, I am his 6th generation grandson, through his son, Lt. (sometimes styled, Ensign) Gabriel Wisner, who died for our freedom at the Battle of Minisink. Gabriel's uniform hung, for a while, at the Washington's Headquarters Museum, in Morristown, NJ. I think of this country as something of a family project.

Regarding a leadership role, while I am happy to write, there are reasons I am not well suited to anything in the public eye. For example. I have very little formal education. I did complete my major in philosophy at Brooklyn College, but I did it in 3 semesters, at the expense of any other courses except one in Latin, and one in classical literature. I am also not one for cameras of any kind: I am short, bald and toothless. Finally, although least important, I am a livestock farmer, and a sole proprietor. My wife suffered an injury that limits her capacity to tend the farm in my absence. This, and its necessary entailment that I live at some distance from civilization, present an admittedly surmountable difficulty that, compounded with the other objections, makes a public persona somewhat less appealing (I imagine) to those for whom I would speak than it might be for me.

Lastly, regarding direct communication, you may email me at: dryrunfarm@comcast.net. Once having as much privacy as this will afford, the rest may follow.

Dr. Pearlman,

Thank you for your kind words.

I am afraid for the GOP. It seems to me that the Party has lost its identity and its integrity with respect to it. More concerned with the role of office holders with an."R," after their names than with bringing principle into operation, many on this board risk the irrelevancy that falls to every lesser imitation: "Let the Democrats define the agenda, and we'll offer it, too, with less saturated fat." I'm sorry, but I won't debate degrees of stupidity.

Our Founders understood that government can do much, much more than they designed our government to do, and they knew that much of what government can do, above and beyond the design parameters they gave to ours, would be benign in and of itself. Still, they designed a minimal government, and that, very much on purpose. They knew that government wields no powers except those assumed at the expense of the people's liberty, whether to a greater or lesser degree. They did not fear the ascendancy of a tyrant all at once, but they feared a gradual erosion of freedom and liberty such that, without noticing its approach, the people would awake one day to absolute despotism, with no other recourse available to them for it but that it would entail great civil upheaval. Having once lived such a turn of events, they hoped and worked to spare us that experience. We have not been equals to their wisdom.

The history of nations allows the student no expectation of powerful, central governments than that they will descend into tyranny. Our own government daily adds power to power. The syllogism allows no other deduction than that we are recreating for ourselves the very conditions that inspired our Revolution, and that our Founders meant to save us from in the government they designed for us...and yet, the GOP (and some on this board) appears to stand for nothing better than slower speed limits on the road to Hell.
