Well, historically Conservatives are latecomers, Eisenhower and Nixon before Goldwater the party was moderate....so....120 years of Moderatism and 30 years of Conservatism?
October 28
Tomb 1 moderates are a good part of the GOP. But we can't let moderates destroy vital conservative principles that have shaped this party for over 150 years.

Heh, most of Carmelo's comments talk quite differently. I'm a moderate and I find alot of his comments making me feel like I will be run out of the party via pitchforks and torches.

We're no theocracy - however, our constitution allows freedom of religious expression. This is a huge issue & huge story, that's why there are blogs regarding it. We don't have to agree 100% lockstep on every issue; however, there has to be a core…

We Want The Same Thing
By Darrel Mulloy

There’s a controversy brewing in Texas. It is a controversy over secession or what some are calling nullification. Some see only secession as the end to government intrusion in our lives while others more hopefully believe that the union should remain intact and that the tenth amendment can be used to force the federal gov… Continue

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.

Hello Suzanne,

I have to be honest and say that I have not agreed with many of your posts related to the Israel/Palestine conflict. However, I do support your right to voice your opinion.

I fear that what this site is seeing is something akin to what happened/s at Team Sarah. There is always a group of zealots who believe they speak and represent the conservative movement. They don't. They are too narrow. Conservatism, if it is about anything, it is about rugged individualism.

I hope you will hang in there and continue to be a vocal as you see fit.

Cheers, Clamshell

Hey,

Reading your discussion and comments on the Palestinian question, it occurred to me to remind you of something: the question can be viewed from either or both of 2 perspectives, religion, or international affairs. I answered your discussion once from the international affairs perspective. I took no account of theology then, but treated Israel on the same terms that the US or Bolivia should be treated on. It seems, though, that this is not the perspective from which you were originally writing.

If you don't already know it, I should tell you that there is strong opposition to the political entity, "Israel," among the most fervent Jews. In Meah Sheorim, an ancient Jewish enclave in what's now called East Jerusalem, a short walk from the Old City, descendants of the early Hassidim and the Vilna Gaon (the "Genius of Vilna") still carry Jordanian passports, refusing to recognize the legitimacy of political Israel on theological grounds. Satmar (a Hassidic group headquartered in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY), which has a strong presence in Meah Sheorim, provides an umbrella for Neturi Karta - "the Guardians of the City," in Aramaic - provided Yasser Arafat with official advisors on Jewish affairs, and continue to serve in the Palestinian Authority. Among these Jews, opposition to the state of Israel, and support for their Arab neighbors and their cause is strong.

The next time there's a demonstration at UN headquarters in NY against Israeli conduct toward its Arab wards, look for the Jews. You'll find them.

Passing over (no pun intended) those Jews who support the state of Israel - mostly Conservative, Modern Orthodox and Mizrachi (Middle Eastern) Jews - the balance of orthodox Jews don't go as far as Satmar, Neturi Karta and their kindred spirits: they oppose the state theologically, but consider it a religious duty to support their fellow Jews even in their error. In the simplest terms, they reason that one cannot educate a corpse in the error of its ways.

I just wanted you to know that your position is shared even in some Jewish quarters.

Hello Fellow Republican,

In January 2009, the Republican Party will be a party out of power. To facilitate dialogue regarding the re-emergence of the Party, I have started a blog called
Plaintalk from the Texas Hill Country - It's My Party Too!

Plaintalk will be focused on the emerging battle for the “heart
of the GOP and the future of America
“.  It will do so by chronicling breaking news feeds and political commentary from local, state and national news sources.

The blog will be updated on a daily basis.  Readers can also sign up for a free online daily newsletter.  I encourage you to visit my blog and I hope that you find it informative. Your comments and feedback are welcome!

Plaintalk can be reached by email: mcgrody@gmail.com or by phone: 830-446-6150
