Ron Pauls amendment passed. He has been fighting this battle for over 20 years on the Fed and things are finally starting to shine. Love it.

The Washington establishment suffers a serious defeat

Excerpt: "Something quite amazing happened yesterday in Congress: the House Finance Committee -- in a truly bipartisan and even trans-ideological vote -- defied the banking industry, the Federal Reserve, the Democratic leadership, and mainstream Beltway opinion in order to pass an amendment...mandating a genuine and probing audit of the Fed."

WSJ: Americans Deserve a Transparent Fed by Ron Paul and Jim Demint

Excerpt: "While the Fed is more transparent now than it was 20 or 30 years ago, there is still a long way to go. If the Fed were fully transparent, organizations such as Bloomberg and Fox News wouldn't have to sue its board of governors to receive materials that should be available through Freedom of Information Act requests."

Too Bad Ron Paul's Economic Brilliance Unrecognized by 80% of Republicans...

Ron Paul nails it! Too bad most Republicans didn't understand a word he said...Federal Reserve created the problem? Who? What? Hannity/Limbaugh don't talk about the Fed causing any problems so Ron Paul MUST be wrong!

END THE FED! Please Understand What Rangel Is Saying...

"Don’t ask me where we’re going to find the money. I’m going to get it where Paulson found it”. ~ Charles Rangel

There have been some on this site suggesting that ending the Fed wouldn't fix any problem, but they still don't realize that the Fed is the root of the outlandish spending in Washington. The Fed is handing out free drugs to drug addicts, and you should not be surprised when the addicts abuse those free drugs to the detriment of themselves and others. Stop the drug dealer. End… Continue

Quotes from Jefferson

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe"

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical"
Thomas Jefferson

In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Funny how Jefferson is being seen as a prophet now.

Mr. Obama took a line from Mr. Buckley, "the war on drugs is lost." Go figure. Legalizing marijuana won't lead us to a cracked out, drugged nation. The government can make a lot of money off it if it's legalized properly and controlled like alcohol or tobacco. If you set rules, and charge a tax, people won't be tweaking out in the streets...you'll probably bring a little more respect to the "establishment" by a those who will sit on their butt and watch cartoons while eating pizza after pizza.

Hello Fellow Republican,

In January 2009, the Republican Party will be a party out of power. To facilitate dialogue regarding the re-emergence of the Party, I have started a blog called
Plaintalk from the Texas Hill Country - It's My Party Too!

Plaintalk will be focused on the emerging battle for the “heart
of the GOP and the future of America
“.  It will do so by chronicling breaking news feeds and political commentary from local, state and national news sources.

The blog will be updated on a daily basis.  Readers can also sign up for a free online daily newsletter.  I encourage you to visit my blog and I hope that you find it informative. Your comments and feedback are welcome!

Plaintalk can be reached by email: mcgrody@gmail.com or by phone: 830-446-6150

Sir, the key word in your screen name is YOUNG.
You are too young to have any firsthand knowledge of Barry Goldwater's politics. I, on the other hand lived during the era and actively participated in his run for the presidency.
Please follow one or, even better all of the following links to enhance your knowledge of Barry M. Goldwater (R-AZ)
He was very much pro-states rights and an avid, if not rabid, constitutionalists

Goldwater, Reason Magazine.

A profile of Barry Goldwater

Even a PBS article on Goldwater

It should not take you long to get a much better understanding of the man and his politics.

Barry Goldwater was a CONSTITUTIONAL conservative.

It is true that residing in Messachewetts does not necessarily make one a liberal however, if one walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and runs around with other ducks..........well, an intelligent young fellow such as yourself should be able to deduce the rest.

I love Ayn Rand! I have read all her books... she hits the nail on the head. After Obama won and he all we heard about is his version of Collectivism - recalled Atlas Shrugged and thought - i might have to go John Galt... ironically about a week later began to see people all over the web talking similar.. thanks for the video post!

YJR, if I remember my American History from the mid-twentieth century, Jefferson and Adams were bitter (political) enemies. Each of which wanted to outlive the other. Ironically, they both died on July 4, 1826.

YJR,
You mentioned in a thread somewhere that you don't think Palin is a libertarian-leaning R. That is something I've been wondering about since I picked her in our office VP pick back in Spring '08.

When I picked her, I thought, oh Alaska, she probably leans towards the libertarian wing of the party, for god's sake, her husband was a member of the Alaska Independence Party and she has met with them and speaks highly of them.

After the campaign though, I've really been forced to rethink my earlier view that she favored our wing of the Party. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Your thoughts?

Do you have a plan or suggestion to help rebuild the Republican party?

I look forward to working with you and all Republicans to return this nation to its conservative Republican background and return those states we lost back to the right color - Red.

Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Iowa all former Red states. How is the time for grassroots Republicans to stand up for the right and fight for the basics the GOP has stood for.

With the election of Joseph Cao in Lousianna and taking a Democrat seat, things are starting to look up for 2010.

With the Gov of IL in trouble trying to sale a senate seat, Democrates are on the ropes. Now is the time for Republican Grassroots to move as a party to share the Republican message.

Never give up, Never quit, Never fail, Always reaching, the GOP will be back.
