"it's not ideal, but it's how i feel"

Bio and Blog

Grad student in political science. Working on my dissertation, supposedly, but finding the time for all sorts of useless stuff online. If you're interested in what I'm up to generally, my blog is http://www.ashokkarra.com

Some entries that might be of use to fellow conservatives/GOPers:

Analysis and Commentary on the Gettysburg Address

What Can We Reasonably Expect from Partisanship?

Xenophon on Oligarchy and Democracy

If you want me to help out with something GOP related, I'm warning in advance: what I love to help out with most is blog related stuff. I'm no expert, but that's where I'm best suited to help out and build networks. Making a space on the Internet where the GOP can be heard and not vilified immediately is primarily why I'm here.

Rethink.

This is really excellent stuff, although I will say this: expertise in a subject helps. People need to feel like they're getting something for the time they spend with you. One thing about Obama's constant campaigning and too-large presence on so...

Sorry I've been quiet, just been trying to conquer the world

Sorry I haven't terribly active on here lately. I've just started guest-blogging at a site which used to have a readership that liked to get involved in a number of things, but has kinda fallen on hard times. You can see "The Irate Nation" if you're interested in what I'm up to there - I gotta help rebuild the audience and get the site attention of other bloggers, and while that'll take time, it's achievable through an… Continue

Request: I'd like Americans to appreciate their heritage more...

...so much of politics is geared towards materialism, and I understand to a degree it has to be that way. We're worried about ourselves, those we love, and all of our futures.

But you know what? When people get fixated on things, like money or better drugs or whatever else, the free market suffers. It offers less diversity and ends up catering to our paranoia - hence, all the crap about going "green" when it isn't clear global warming even exists.

It doesn't surprise me that our Founders and g… Continue

I see what you're saying. How about studying what Obama did since he is a master at public relations using the internet and all current methods of communication. Also, are you involved at your local level with the GOP? I just became involved in my own town last spring but have followed politics for 15 years very closely. There are many opportunities at local/state. Google Aaron Shock. He is the youngest to be elected to Congress but the media DID NOT MENTION HIS NAME. He's very impressive. Especially how he has conducted his campaigns. That's plural because he has held other public office prior to Congress.

Thtat's how little I know about the difference between IT stuff and internet stuff! My point being that you are computer savvy and through blogging can reach millions of people just like the Dems did when they stomped us in November. We lost by 7 points which means, even with a weak, moderate nominee in McCain, 57M voted for him/against Obama. That means if we nominate TRUE conservatives, we can win. More importantly, we need to support all conservatives in Congress no matter what letter is next to their name. Republicans abandoned conservative principles so we now will pay the price. I am President of my local Republican party and I plan to work locally from the bullseye out, if you will, while keeping close eye on the incompetents in Congress. You do raise very good points.

HI Ashok, you raise some good points. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) we were conceptualized as an organization to influence the RNC debate regarding the Chairman's race, so we are focused on that at the moment.

2) we have expanded beyond the RNC race (that's why I have been hired) and I'm currently working on some projects that will be launched post RNC debate (ideas similar to what you mentioned)

Having said that, this election for RNC chairman is the single most important vote that the party has until the GOP nomination for President. It's not an end, it's a means for growing our party.

Your energy and determination is greatly appreciated and please, keep giving me feedback.
