Personally, the past 5 months have proven that nothing good will come from the usurper currently occupying the White House. Anything that has his seal of approval is suspect. Therefore, as long as he is for it, I am against it. Additionally, I ha...

Jim McGrody, Publisher and Editor of Plaintalk from the Texas Hill Country - It's My Party Too is a moderate Republican.  Using his
blog, and a collaborative approach, he is attempting to develop an answer to the
question, "What is a Moderate Republican?"

So, here is your chance.  click on the link below to collaborate with Jim in developing an answer.  Upon reviewing the current version feel free to add your comments or request that additional policy
statements be developed.  Plaintalk reserves the right to incorporate such
comments and policy statements into the final version.  the goal is to have
a working document in place to present to the newly-elected Chair of the
Republican National Committee (RNC),  That election takes place at the end
of January 2009.

Have you really gone left of half the party or gone more libertarian?

The Republican party has drifted to far to the keft and needs to come back to its roots about responsible limited government. In that the GOP finds its strength and identity. We love to have you in this process to push the GOP back to its roots so that America will have its leaders back.

Daniel,

Do you have a plan or suggestion to help rebuild the Republican party?

I look forward to working with you and all Republicans to return this nation to its conservative Republican background and return those states we lost back to the right color - Red.

Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Iowa all former Red states. How is the time for grassroots Republicans to stand up for the right and fight for the basics the GOP has stood for.

With the election of Joseph Cao in Lousianna and taking a Democrat seat, things are starting to look up for 2010.

With the Gov of IL in trouble trying to sale a senate seat, Democrates are on the ropes. Now is the time for Republican Grassroots to move as a party to share the Republican message.

Never give up, Never quit, Never fail, Always reaching, the GOP will be back.

Is this independent of your county GOP committee?

I would say develop a wide-ranging questionnaire, then assemble a group of people from different wings of the party to meet with anyone interested to help them with the process including gathering signatures, fund-raising and dealing with state/FEC paperwork and regulations. Candidates that run their own campaigns will fail more than likely, because they get bogged down in the details easily. It can become overwhelming and that tends to stall any momentum they might have.
Using the questionnaire and secondary information the group can help him to form a narrative (i.e. McCain as Maverick, etc.) develop a media strategy and focus their message into 3 or 4 key points.

My Bio

I am a 24 year old medical student. I'm from outside Chicago, IL. I graduated from Duke University in 2006 with a dual degree in biomedical and electrical engineering and a minor in political science. I worked for two years in NYC as a research assistant at Columbia University. I used to think that I was ultra-conservative, but I guess I've moderated my views quite a lot, while the Republican party has drifted ever farther to the right, which probably puts me on the left half of the party. I'm very concerned about Democratic overreaching and think that having a healthy and vibrant conservative alternative is vital to our nation. I am committed to keeping our party relevant to the debates of the day, rather than continuing on its current brain-dead trajectory. To those who agree, be my friend and lets get moving!
