"Don’t ask me where we’re going to find the money. I’m going to get it where Paulson found it”. ~ Charles Rangel
There have been some on this site suggesting that ending the Fed wouldn't fix any problem, but they still don't realize that the Fed is the root of the outlandish spending in Washington. The Fed is handing out free drugs to drug addicts, and you should not be surprised when the addicts abuse those free drugs to the detriment of themselves and others. Stop the drug dealer. End…

People, let's not be fooled - One Republican signing onto a sloppy, Congressionally mismanaged bill hardly qualifies as "a bipartisan majority".
Rather, Saturday - in a rare weekend session - the House of "Representatives" demonstrated history in completely NEGLECTING the majority of the voters they were elected to REPRESENT.
As the proper means of government in the United States - a representative democracy, it is we the people who have the final say in our government's intrusions.
Think abo…

The White House has announced plans to expand its Office of Faith-Based Initiatives. In an address to the National Prayer Breakfast, President Barack Obama said the office would reach out to nonprofit organizations and "help them determine how to make a bigger impact...and learn their obligations under the law." From a number of things said in the speech and that have transpired in relation to the economic bailout, those who cherish both religious liberty and sound theology should be deeply conc…

Most of this is opinion. I tend to think that one of the biggest problems that the Republicans have is that the party doesn't listen well. It should be embarassing that the party picked a candidate who was pushed out of the race by a third party candidate. It shows there is a serious disconnect between the party and the district in upstate NY. I can tell you that there is a disconnect between the party and where I live in GA. To the extent that there is a disconnect blog space is a great way to…

There now seems to be quite a dust-up in the House of Representatives about provisions governing abortion in the health care reform legislation.
I just listened to a woman Representative decrying the fact that "white men" would want a provision in the law that would specifically limit a woman having insurance coverage for the procedure if Federal funds were directly involved in funding the policy. (My immediate thought was that a lot of women of every race object to medically terminating…

The government’s efforts to save the economy have met to date with mixed results. On the positive side, the larger banks have shown profits, with even Citigroup producing a profit of sorts. On the negative side, unemployment is increasing and underemployment is skyrocketing. The media has termed this the new normal.
The New Normal, modest GDP growth and rising unemployment, stems from the failure of government to understand basic economics. The economic equivalent of Boyle’s Law is that you can…

Congressman Watt – Charlatan or Economic Imbecile?
Congressman
Mel Watt (D-NC) is either a charlatan or ignorant of basic economics. Either way he is unfit to serve in Congress let alone serve as chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittee. This week Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) announced that Watt took the knife to his bill to audit the Federal Reserve – The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 (HR 1207). According…

Sarah Palin Endorsed the Conservative Party Candidate
There was a Special Congressional Election in New York State's
Republican North Country and a Democrat won! In doing the research several weeks before the election when the Republican candidate was still in the race we had surmised that she and the "Conservative Party" candidate would "split the vote" and still one of them would prevail becau…

OK of abortion limits clear{ed} way for historic health care vote
By David Lightman | McClatchy Newspapers
WASHINGTON — With a personal push from President Barack Obama, the House of Representatives Saturday inched closer to passing historic health care legislation that would guarantee virtually all Americans access to care.
Three key votes pointed to its passage: one, 242 to192, authorized the bill to be debated, a key test of Dem…

The right wing of the Republican party, which can loosely be defined as everyone to the right of John McCain, has gotten much too self-absorbed with its own emotionalism and dogmatic view of who belongs in a major American political party.
The reaction to losing major political power in 2 major election cycles has been nothing short of a dramatic attempt to push out anyone who thinks that TV and radio entertainers comprise the singular wisdom of conservative political thought.
(When w…

The Conservative mantra of the day blames the current financial crisis on the government’s over-regulation of an otherwise sound banking system. They want you to believe that the crisis stems from an intrusive government forcing lending standards lower by government fiat, namely the CRA. While the government is at fault here, the government's intervention in the banking system is only a small component of a much larger problem.
People think for a second. The entire sub-prime market is only 500…

Here is an article that discusses the route of the recession, and the financial fiasco. Funny thing is noe one on the Republican side saw t his coming except for Ron Paul. Was Andrew Jackson a hero or a murderer?
He was the leading hero in the battle for New Orleans and was responsible for starting the conquest of the new American frontier, yet he was a villian for owning slaves and in being responsible for many Indian deaths.
Was history wrong ?

Yet another lone crazed gunman...today, in Orlando, Florida.
There is, of course, a clear distinction between an Army major who indiscriminately shoots enlisted personnel and a disgruntled unemployed man retaliating against a former employer.
But, just as it would be wrong to use the shootings today to justify slurs and prejudice against Hispanics (the Orlando gunman was of Latin extraction),
it is also not justified to go too far in blaming Muslims or people from the Middle East for the vi…

"Especially with Democrats seeing electoral losses in governors' races in New Jersey and Virginia on Tuesday, it's time for more to be done on the jobs front. It's increasingly clear that the stimulus act from last February was both too small and poorly designed (though it was responsible for most of last quarter's growth). Observers – like me – who call for more federal aid to drastically cut state budgets, a jobs tax credit and even targeted investments in future industries may sound like b…

"It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they can not be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they can be promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man knows what the law is today can guess what it will be tomorrow."
- James Madison, from The Federalist Papers
Quoted today in a letter to the editors of The Wall Street Journal by E…
