Expand Your Images

On the campaign trail, many of you will be blogging or sending mass emails to your lists. Images can be a great way to express an idea and share your thoughts. Is your candidate talking about health care, education, taxes, or energy? It can help to have corresponding images of doctors/nurses, teachers/schools, dollar signs, and windmills/solar panels. GazoPa is a unique tool to help you find similar images that currently exist on your comput… Continue

Todd Herman on the new GOP.com

I had the pleasure of meeting with Todd Herman at the RNC to discuss the new GOP.com What I liked about the new site was the state group function where I could upload pictures, videos, and documents specific to my state. There are a lot of manuals, guides, fundraising charts etc.. that are specific to my state (regulations, laws, limits etc..) and I can now ensure that everyone from my state visiting GOP.com can have access to these documents and manuals. Todd Herman in the… Continue

The Waves of a Campaign

If you have ever had the pleasure of working on a campaign, you know how hectic and crazy it can be. Campaigns are often described as organized chaos. The role of a manager is to maximize the "organized" and minimize the "chaos." I was invited to use Google Wave this morning, googles new way of transforming the web as a communication tool. Email is old. Sure, the AOL type of email we know is not very old, but sending messages across the world wide web is nothing new. If email were invented… Continue

Get Creative

With a little bit of talent it's amazing what our grassroots can generate. Granted, it took web video skills to crate this video BUT the idea is simple. I want to encourage the Rebuild community to think of additional ways to expose Obama and the Democrats of the ultra left wing agenda. Continue

VOIP PHONES

Voice Over Internet Phones are a great way to conduct an effective Voter ID and GOTV campaign efficiently. If you are working on a campaign this cycle, you should certainly consider utilizing this technology. I made the video blow of Kurt Luidhardt of the Prosper Group. Continue

SayNow in Politics?

SayNow is a popular communication tool with bands. It's a free service and from the website, they describe it as: "SayNow lets you chat LIVE with new people and send messages to your community from your phone anytime!" While web video is easier than ever, there is nothing like the simplicity of using your cell phone to dial a number and give a quick campaign trail update to your activists and volunteers. And if you have worked on any campaign… Continue

Using Video On The Campaign Trail

Video is becoming one of the most effective ways to communicate on the campaign trail. Video is more emotional and creates a more intimate relationship between the activists and the candidate/campaign. Video is also a great way to show the "inside" of the campaign and to let activists in on what is going on. Video can show the candidate as a real person. Previously, our access to a candidate was professional video - commercials, news programs etc.. Our exposure was always staged and consultant… Continue

Going Mobile

A lot of campaigns for 2010 are going mobile, or at least considering options on how to do it. For those that may be confused I'm referring to using text messages for your campaign. Currently, text messaging is "cool" and "modern" for campaigning but let's review the real value of text messaging. - GOTV - it's critical to communicate instantly with your voters on, or near Election Day. However, those that subscribe to your text messaging program are probably the LEAST likely to need a reminder… Continue

Who's More Engaged?

Have you visited your congressman's website? Check any websites of the politicians that represent you and see how engaged they are. Odds are, they use their website as a way to send out press releases and events. It's a one-way, top-down medium used essentially as an electronic billboard. I find this odd as politicians not only represent their constituents, they are also on a mission to get reelected. They have a direct incentive to please as many constituents as possible and to enhance their n… Continue

Image and Perception

This is a great video showing the difference between the marketing of the two parties. Being right on the issues is not enough, the steak/potato analogy showed this perfectly. Many of my fellow conservatives understand Milton Friedman, Russel Kirk, and the Austrian school of economics very well. However, this video shows us that being right is only half the battle, we must also know how to sell and market our ideas. If you disagree with this, you're an idealist not living in reality.… Continue

Got Hope?

A friend of mine, Brian Donahue, shared some interesting information with me that I wanted to pass along to you: "President Obama and the Democratic leaders in Congress hastily drew a bold line in the sand on the role of government and the direction they wanted to take this country. They shoved a poorly conceived stimulus bill, riddled with pet projects, down the throats of congress. They moved to raise taxes and continue to promote a much l… Continue

Support for Iranians

An Iranian American recently said this: “The bottom line right now is whose violence threshold is higher? How much are the hard-liners willing to inflict to suppress the population and tell yet another generation to shut up? And how much are Moussavi and his supporters willing to stand to fulfill their dreams? It sounds so inhuman, but that’s what it comes down to. It’s very scary.” You can declare your support as part of the coalition supporting the new generation of Iranians. Use the graphic… Continue

Google Group

Google has a great way for organizations and groups to organize through Google Groups. Essentially, it's an intranet where people can communicate and share files, thoughts, and ideas, within a particular google group. There are various settings to allow for a more public or private group. Campaigns and local party committees could benefit greatly by using google groups as a way to share ideas and plan events together. Collaborating is important and this is a very efficient way to better organiz… Continue

ReBoot Delaware

I had the pleasure of meeting over 80 Delaware activists this week for an activist workshop. We covered many aspects of how they can become a better activist by saving time and reaching a broader audience. The questions were great and there is a real thirst out there among the GOP faithful to learn new ways and be stronger campaigners. While discussing best practices for collecting information, and not treating the web as a glorified electronic billboard, I was asked about "internet security."… Continue

Does this stuff really matter?

I was just reviewing some stats from the Pew Internet & American Life Project about the internets role in the 2008 election and came across some pretty impressive stats. "Some 74% of internet users--representing 55% of the entire adult population--went online in 2008 to get involved in the political process or to get news and information about the election." Sure, we can debate the differences… Continue

NY20 and CodeRed expanding

Jim Tedisco is still fighting, and in fact, he is gaining votes day by day. Recent reports show that Tedisco is now up by 17 votes. Both sides are tired and worn out from a grueling campaign. We are putting together a list of volunteer that can be on stand-by in case Team Tedisco needs you. If you are in the northeast, please sign up to be on stand-by (upstate NY is wonderful in during s… Continue

GOTV - you can do it.

A lot of you Rebuilders are itching to get active, to finally do something for our cause after the losses we suffered in 2008. This is your chance. We need to help wage a massive GOTV effort to push Jim Tedisco over the finish line on March 31st. The GOTV operation will start on March 27th and conclude on the evening of March 31st (victory night, if we can make it happen). Need to know more about GOTV, and how you can be part of this process to help the GOP in the blue northeast? Watch… Continue
