I wonder if A-jad is even aware of the proclamation! I suspect he is and a fatwa will be issued directly. This was no less than a call to arms...not one quarter inch, indeed! I am sure though, they will take a mile, if allowed. I do hope the President knows what he is doing....sigh?

That sums up everything in his statements better than I can say.
Internationally, we should never be about what the world thinks of us. This isn't high school and popularity has no value. It is a world with evil dictators that will willingly kill and harm those they purport to represent. A moral compass should not change its bearing at the behest of being liked. Not in this world. We know we are a compassionate nation and if those we've defended for lo many decades feel a little uncomfortable, I imagine they would have been more uneasy had we not been the protector of much of the free world. With that load come the responsibility of having a sense of what is morally good in the world. We are not perfect but our record has been awfully good.
Again, not one quarter inch.
