The Republican Party must rebuild the party with its core conservative values (limited government as its central core) but with new methodologies for communicating our ideas and creating a groundswell of grass roots activity that we can all believe. We need to communicate our ideas and ideology to the American people and stop acting like Democrats (McCain, Powell, Bloomberg, and Schwarzenegger are prime examples).

We need to define ourselves and not allow the liberal establishment to define the Republican Party as has been allowed over the past (6) years. We must have leaders with the charisma to communicate to the masses a singular voice of the party and a unique ability to raise much needed campaign funds through modern time. Over time, with success, we can regain the Reagan American Spirit we so fondly remember.

I agree that the constant referencing of Reagan doesn't add much, especially for people of a younger generation like mine. Current college students don't remeber Reagan or even H.W. Bush. But they will identify with his ideas of liberty, freedom, and prosperity. The GOP has to call for smaller, efficient government that is out of the lives of the citizens and provides the opportunity to succeed. We've got to package this message of optimism into a media campaign just as Obama did this year with his message. The American people like our ideas, they just don't know it yet. It should always be about a Republican Party that is unified by the basic tenets of fiscal responsibility and personal freedom.

Reagan may be dead, however the conservative ideals he promoted are as alive & relevant today as in 1980, & will be alive & relevant in 2080. Dems won because Republicans, too many of them, in the house, senate, & yes White House governed fiscally like Democrats - spending wildly & growing government. If the choice is between a Democrat & faded color Republican, the Democrat wins. We do need to get our leaders back to the core conservatism that wins elections & governs afterward with sound policies. The missing part has been limited government fiscally responsible conservatism, & reclaiming that should be the focus of our leaders as we look to 2010.

We need to realize that Reagan is dead and it isn't 1980. The Dems won because we governed badly and passed liberal policies like NCLB and prescription drug coverage.

First off, we need to phase out some of the figures that have been closely identified with the GOP. Jack Abramoff comes to mind. Many of these are crooks and "neo-cons" who don't appear to have the interest of the USA and Americans at heart. We need to be the party of the Capitalist Worker and the small investor. George Soros and Bill Gates have the money to not give a hoot about how the country is going down the pipes... Let the Obamanites be identified with the Ivory tower wealthy.
